MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONTEXT IN SKILLS-BASED LEARNING CONCEPTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
Skills-based multidisciplinary learning in higher education integrates various fields to solve real-world problems and equip students with relevant skills. However, there is still little research exploring the long-term effectiveness of skills-based multidisciplinary learning in higher education on students' career success. This study aims to review the literature on skills-based multidisciplinary learning in higher education. This research uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, including identification, screening, feasibility evaluation, and inclusion of relevant studies. This study found: first, the skills-based multidisciplinary learning approach in higher education integrates various disciplines to develop students' critical, creative, and adaptive thinking abilities in solving complex real-world problems, preparing them to contribute to dynamic industries; second, the main challenges in implementing skills-based multidisciplinary learning include faculty resistance to changing traditional teaching methods, resource limitations, and challenges in designing and evaluating curricula that effectively cover students' practical skills; third, the implications of skills-based multidisciplinary learning for higher education include flexible curriculum development, faculty training in new learning methods, and the use of comprehensive practical skills assessments.
